The Deep Wilds, the Other Side, the illusive realm lurking behind every mirror and in the heart of the wild places in the world. The Feywild is a strange place, home to the most powerful Fey and their mortal servants. Although it is subsumed under the vast blanket of the Otherworld, the Deep Wilds do not correspond to locations in the material plane; they are their own, spiraling off in great magical clusters. Unlike the Otherworld proper, it isn’t particularly easy to reach the Feywild, but any place that has sufficient ambient energy to allow passage to the Otherworld may be attuned into a Feywild portal on the proper day of the right season. Most of these power locations have more conventional paths on the Otherworld side that lead physically to Feywild locations, anyway.
There are two major powers in Fey circles, and thus two major divisions of the Feywild: The Summer Court and the Winter Court. Some Fey are assigned by birth and by nature to one court or another, but most – including mortal Fey like Eladrin and Gnomes – have their free choice of which to support; in the past, whole communities existed in the outlands for the sole purpose of raising young Fey until their coming of age, where they would be forced to make their choice. Now, the mortal world serves that purpose. (Do note that Fey who try to use the Convergence as an excuse to avoid paying tribute to their rightful rulers are in for a rude awakening. Believe me, young ones, when your time comes, you will know it.)
